Privacy policy

Last updated: 18 October 2026

BGRemoveX is designed as a local-first image utility. This page explains what happens to your images and what data is involved when you use the site.

Your images

When you open an image in BGRemoveX, your browser reads it and processes it on your device. Background removal, Smart Select, Refine and the PNG download all run in your browser. BGRemoveX has no application backend or database for images, so the images you open are not uploaded to or stored by BGRemoveX.

Your image stays in the browser tab while you work on it and is cleared when you open another image, start over, or close the tab. The PNG you download is saved by your browser to your device.

Files your browser downloads

To remove backgrounds, your browser downloads the app and its background-removal model files from bgremovex.com. Your browser may keep these files in its normal cache so the next visit is faster. You can clear them at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

We do not promise that every current or future processing route will be fully local. If a route changes, this page will be updated to explain it clearly before that change is made.

Information stored on your device

If you choose a light or dark theme, BGRemoveX stores that choice in your browser's local storage under the name bgremovex-theme, so the theme is remembered next time. It contains only the word "light" or "dark". The BGRemoveX app does not set cookies.

Accounts

There are no accounts, sign-ups or payments.

Website analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics)

BGRemoveX uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how the site is used and how quickly its pages load. Cloudflare adds a small script (static.cloudflareinsights.com/beacon.min.js) to the site's pages, and your browser sends short reports to bgremovex.com/cdn-cgi/rum when a page loads and when you leave it.

According to Cloudflare's documentation, these reports contain page-load timing and performance measurements (including Core Web Vitals) and details such as the page address (without its query string), the referring page, your browser, operating system and device type, and your country. Cloudflare states that Web Analytics does not use cookies or local storage, does not fingerprint visitors to produce its statistics, and does not track individual visitors across websites. As with any request your browser makes, Cloudflare receives your IP address when the report is sent; its Web Analytics documentation does not say whether or how long the IP address is kept.

The reports describe page visits and loading performance. They do not include the images you open, which are processed only in your browser.

For more information, see Cloudflare Web Analytics and Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Hosting

BGRemoveX is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. Cloudflare may also set strictly necessary security cookies to protect the site from abuse. This is handled under Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Advertising

Today: BGRemoveX does not show ads. Its Google AdSense application is under review, and no Google advertising scripts are loaded, so no advertising cookies are set and no advertising data is collected. The site's pages contain a Google AdSense ownership-verification tag, which is plain text in the page and does not load anything or set cookies. Google AdSense is separate from the Cloudflare Web Analytics described above.

In future: we plan to show ads through Google AdSense to keep the tool free. Before ads are switched on, this section will be updated to explain how Google and its partners use cookies to serve and measure ads, and how you can control personalised advertising.

Changes to this policy

If the way BGRemoveX handles data changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.
